Discover Aerial Massage

Aerial Massage is a unique way of working with the body, combining massage, movement and the support of specially designed fabrics. Within Aerial Academie Nederland, I have developed different ways of using both the massage cloth and the aerial fabric as an extension of the therapist’s hands. The fabrics allow you to support, move, stretch and mobilise the body in ways that can be difficult to achieve with the hands alone.

Depending on the technique, the client may be lying on a massage table or mat while individual parts of the body are supported by the massage cloth, or the body may be partially supported by the aerial fabric.

This creates a wide range of possibilities for mobilisations, passive stretches, traction, decompression, pressure techniques and rhythmic movements.

The support of the fabric can make techniques more comfortable for the client while also reducing the physical effort required from the therapist. Instead of relying primarily on muscular strength, you learn to work with the fabric, your body weight, biomechanics and the natural movement of the client’s body.

Two Different Approaches to Aerial Massage

Within the Aerial Academie, you can explore Aerial Massage through two specialised online training programmes. Aerial Massage focuses on working with a specially designed massage cloth. You will learn how to use the cloth for mobilisations, traction, decompression and rhythmic techniques, and how to integrate these techniques into massage, yoga or other forms of bodywork.

Aerial Thai Massage combines the principles and techniques of traditional Thai massage with the support of the aerial fabric. You will work with passive stretches, mobilisations, traction and pressure techniques while the client’s body is partially supported by the fabric.

Both courses include extensive video training, complete ready-to-use massage sequences and a comprehensive digital course manual, allowing you to study and practise at your own pace from anywhere in the world. You can choose the training that best fits your work or combine both methods to discover the full possibilities of working with fabric in massage and bodywork.
